5/2 at Durham Game Notes and Lineup

• VS. DURHAM: Tha Bats are 0-1 against Durham in 2012. Last year the Bats went 5-3 against the Bulls and 2-2 at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The last four times that Louisville has made the playoffs they have been defeated by Durham.

• DOT, DIGGITY: Louisville’s .230 team avg and 4.87 team era are both 13th in the IL…The Bats are hitting .260 (57-219) through the first seven games of the current 12-game road trip… LOU is last in the IL with its .194avg w/RISP. The two teams they play on this trip are the next two worsts teams with RISP as NOR is hitting .196 and DUR .201…The Bats are 5-8 against teams starting a RHP…They are 3-3 in one-run games… OF Daryl Jones has nine hits on the year and seven for extra bases (3 2b, 1 3b, 3hr).

• ON THE MOUND: LHP Jeff Francis makes his fifth start of the season and will be opposed by RHP Jim Paduch. He is 2-2 and is the only Bats starter to go at least 5.0ip in each of his starts. His last time out on 4/27 at NOR, he went 8.0 innings and allowed just 1er on 3h while walking three and striking out nine. He allowed only 2er in each of his first three starts (1-1) and currently boasts a 4.7k/bb ratio. After being in the Colorado organization since 2002, Francis spent all of 2011 with Kansas City (31g, 6-16, 4.82) and was signed to a minor league deal with Cincinnati on 1/27/12. His 39bb were the fourth-fewest among ML pitchers with at least 180.0ip last season.

• EXTRA EXTRA: For the second straight day and third time this season the Bats played an extra inning game last night. They are now 0-3 in extras. Monday, in the longest game of the season by innings, the Bats fell to NOR 6/5 in 12 innings. A season ago the Bats were 9-8 in extras.
